INTRODUCTION
My name is McKenzie Johnston and my project was creating an injury prevention training guide and putting on an injury prevention presentation at Mansfield High School.
I chose this topic because I got injured training to try out for the freshman field hockey team. It was simply because I did not know how to properly train for tryouts. I do not want any other athletes to go through an injury their freshman year when they are trying to make sports teams, so I created an injury prevention training guide that will help them strengthen all of their muscles so they do not get injured before tryouts. I also decided to put on a presentation about it, because no middle school parents or athletes realize the number of injuries involved in high school sports and they do not know how often they occur. I want to educate them on this and share my training guide with them so they can start training the right way.
The pictures above show the progression of designing my training guide

Project
Step 1:
Find a mentor: my mentor is Michelle Tsitmsos, she is a yoga and fitness instructor in town and she is also a nutritionist.
Step 2:
Create my training guide: I worked with my mentor to create an injury prevention training guide.
Step 3:
Find a guest speaker for my presentation: My guest speakers are Jen Morse and Kelsey Griffiths from The Micheli Center in Waltham, they are both former injury prevention specialists.

Step 4:
Plan my presentation: I worked with Mr. Russo, the athletic director, to plan my presentation. I originally planned to have it at the middle school, but I decided to have it at the high school instead.
